Core Team Members

Joseph Morin – President and CEO

Mr. Morin is a co-founder of ISD. He is a graduate of the California Institute of Technology. He is a long-standing member of ACM, IEEE, NDIA, and AFCEA. Over his 30-year career, Mr. Morin has developed extensive experience in all aspects of computing systems. While at the MIT Center for Space Research and subsequently at Intermetrics, he designed and developed real time embedded computer applications and other Mission Critical Computer Systems. At Intermetrics, Symbolics, and I-Logix he managed the design and development of programming languages, tools, and methods for the production and support of such systems. He has been involved in the design of computer architecture at both the processor and system level. Mr. Morin has managed projects, functional departments, and profit centers. He is recognized for his work in Software Engineering Environments, Reuse (Domain Specific Software Engineering), Technology Transfer and Model-based Process Improvement. While at the SEI, he provided expert consulting services for technology transition planning and implementation to programs under the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA). He has led or participated in over 29 appraisals (utilizing SCE, CBA IPI, and SCAMPI) through Level 5.

Paul Byrnes – Vice President and CTO

Paul was the SEI CMM Based Appraisal (CBA) Project Leader prior to founding ISD. Responsible for developing all published versions of SCE and the initial CBA IPI method (V0.3). A principal developer of the CMM Appraisal Framework (CAF). Principal architect of ISD’s Comprehensive Appraisal Method (CAM); a draft version was an input method to SCAMPISM V1.1. Paul was included in the 1995 Who’s Who in the East, the 1998 Who’s Who in Media and Communications, the 1999 Who’s Who in America, and the 2000 Who’s Who in the World.

Jackie Lawrence – Director

Jackie has over 25 years experience in systems acquisition, process improvement, computer system management, and software development. He has worked with both industry and government organizations to implement model based process improvement programs. Has led or participated in over 60 SW-CMM, CMMI and eSCM evaluationas and appraisals for both high and lower matiruty level engineering, management outsourcing, quality, and training organizations. Jackie is an expert in teaching and applying model based process improvement principles and different appraisal methodologies.

Jeanine Courtney-Clark – Senior Member of the Technical Staff

Ms. Courtney-Clark has over 30 years experience in software development, software quality assurance, project management and process management. Jeanine has led or participated in Software Capability Evaluation (SCE) and SCAMPI appraisals across contractor, consulting, commercial and research organizations at all maturity levels. She has assisted clients in determining and implementing effective strategies for process improvement efforts at a wide variety of organizations. She has led or participated in over 50 appraisals (utilizing SCE and SCAMPI) through Level 5. A quote from one of her students “after a long military career, and work in acquisition and procurement I regard myself as being a “professional student” so I feel qualified to say that your method of instruction and the whole course delivery were simply outstanding.
